Skystone, Hutta and Wizards
One should never put much hope or stock in an indie MMO developer, especially when the length of time between their posted updates are measured in months rather than weeks or days, but I’ve been keeping an eye on Remnants of Skystone for the past half year or so, and another blog update today reminded me of why.
Skystone looks to be an action-MMORPG in a steampunk setting — and also 2D. I’m not against 2D for a MMO platform, but in 2009, that’s like releasing a black and white silent film against other movies. I always have a soft spot for steampunk in my games, and the art at least looks very lush and appealing.
In Star Wars: The Old Republic news, info on a new planet was dished out. Travel to Hutta, land of swamps and industrial waste! I can’t wait!
Finally, it looks as though the wife and I are putting Wizard 101 on hiatus. It’s not that we didn’t like it, exactly, but the overly long and unskippable combat rounds soon made logging in a chore. I think we agreed to possibly re-up our subscription when she gives birth and we have some mandatory “stay at home time”.

Uhh.. a 2D mmo? I think I’ll pass. Sounds kinda home-brew “3 kids in a garage” to me. Graphics are very Duke Nuken circa 1991.
