After reading a bit about all the hoo-ha concerning Free Realms and the approximately six million closed beta keys they’re giving away — find one in every Slushee, folks! — I sat my wife down and had a little talk.
“Dearest of my heart,” I began, “you must be aware of this upcoming MMO that’s coming out called Free Realms.”
She looks at me with a raised eyebrow. How many online games will it take to satiate this man?, she thinks.
“I think… I think you’ll like it. Check out this video. You can be a wizard… a Mario kart driver… lord of penguins… whatever. And the whole thing is more colorful than Candyland and Disneyland combined. What do you thi–URKK”
She has me by the throat. “I. Must. Play. This. NOW.”
I can barely wheeze as I gaze into her fiery eyes. “It’s not… out of… beta yet.”
A pause. Abruptly, she drops her hand and turns away. “Cool. Let me know when it starts up. Looks like something fun we can play together.”
Yeah, so… another convert. Are you happy, SOE? ARE YOU?

I’ve been seeing a lot of news/hype about this one lately and was thinking along the lines you are….perhaps this is one to get my wife and/or son into an MMO with me.
I’m hoping to get into the beta. If you do let us know.

Be truthful. How did you really describe her this game.
You make your girl and yourself sound like pure cliché, so come on, how did you really introduce her to this game?
I think the part that she was not interested was not made up, after all.
I ask because I have read about Free Realms, but did not bother to read more about it as the name sounded cheap, I heard it was about family and kids, from SOE, and well… I am not like some guys who really think or want to believe that every MMO out there is the MMO messiah. A prominent blogger recently stopped his short flirt with Darkfall Online e.g.

Kuma, if you signed up prior to posting your comment then by now you should have received your Beta invite. I signed up, and within 2-3 days had the key/invite in my email Inbox.
I think it’s okay to say that. I’m not necessarily saying I’m IN the Beta, just saying I got a Beta invite a couple of days after signing up for it…that’s all.
