Syp gets an early start to the week
I’m getting pretty good at changing diapers and swaddling, so if anyone out there needs that… just keep it in mind. In the meanwhile, here’s this week’s /AFK — various posts and articles that caught my attention, and should catch yours!
- Spinks looks around for a good hang-out spot in various MMOs. Know any?
- More of Warhammer’s 1.2.1 patch reviews are bursting forth, including this splendid one by Bootae.
- Spank the Tank counts down WAR’s 24 careers… by looks.
- Snafzg provides us with a great shopping list of tokens in WAR and the groovy gear you get with them.
- Greg rocks the second part of his Tomb Kings expose on Tome of Knowledge.
- Ragnar Tørnquist talks up The Secret World on RPS, while KIASA knocks it down.
- Guild Wars hit 6 million units sold… excelsior, ArenaNet!
- Arbitrary (her close friends call her Arby’s) looks at the rise and fall of Mythic’s marketing.
- Syncaine looks at that oft-repeated claim of paying to play betas. Oh, even if it’s free, we still pay for it, just in a different way. But hey, he likes playing betas more than the real deal!
- What do Hobbits, Fallout and X-Files have in common? Only Tipa knows. And it’s weird.
- Recruit a friend for WAR and get a flying mount! That doesn’t fly! It’s kind of like a helicopter with wheels that only goes downhill, but it still looks cool.
- Ohh… the locked door. How we hate thee so.
- Zubon at KTR looks at something that I’ve spent a lot of time contemplating as well — the opening moments of any given MMO and how they handle it.
- This might be a few… years late at this point, but Wolfshead berates WoW for not letting players create their own dance moves.
- Warhammer Alliance scored an interview with Mark Davis over the Tomb Kings content.
- Snafzg lines up for the kill. It’s like kindergarten!
- Jaxom looks at the state of LOTRO’s IP and sees how the lore might be slipping away…
- Zubon reflects on LOTRO’s Rune-Keeper as he hits 30… and deals with a major guilt trip by the ghost of Tolkein.
- Torchlight looks interesting, but I’ve been burned by this sort of thing already (RIP Mythos!).
- Keen encounters the most hardcore PvP game EVER: Free Realms.
- Wolfshead examines how a blogger might whip up controversy out of nothing at all.
- Runepriest or Rune Priest? This question must be answered!
Heh, you gotta love my motivated photo up there. Thanks for the link, Syp !
The other quirk to WoW Dancing is that it was on the initially announced featurelist for the current expansion, only to fail to make the cut. I think that most players would agree that this should not have been Blizzard’s top priority, but it’s a fair point to mention (especially after the annual april fool’s gag was to announce a dance-off arena battle system).
