If you really want to be a hardcore MMO player, forget 40-man raids — try playing with a baby cradled in one arm and only a mouse in the other. Tab targeting? Hotkeys? Pshaw. Point and click, my friends. Two buttons to run. See how many seconds it takes you to die horribly.
Also, looks like Free Realms is launching today, so… go get your casual freak on.
I totally agree with that! Wait until the wee ‘un gets a little older and starts playing with the keyboard when he sits on your lap. You’ll be jumping all over the place and saying the oddest things in the chat channels, all while running in circles and trying to keep him from crawling across the desk to reach wherever you move the keyboard to.

Have you tried a sling? It’s a good way to get your hands free for gaming while holding a baby.
Then as they get older, there will be new challenges… like remembering not to accidentally hit your push-to-talk every time you need to yell at them. (My poor guildies…lol)
With a 10 month old daughter and two MMO subs, I know what you mean! Try a guild meeting while holding a baby… there’s a challenge!
Yup. I went through this with my first daughter. Even with her asleep and in a sling I’d still logon to check the auction house and level up my fishing (guess the MMO!).
Suddenly control- and shift- clicks are your bane.
Worse is trying to type with one hand to explain to a persistent questioner why you won’t duel/group/help them. Usually I’d get a “OMG, OK” response, but once I got a “great parenting” reply. By the time I got my snarky response typed out, they’d gone…
One of my favorite WoW moments was at 3am in the morning with a The Older Gamers guildie in Area 52.
I was awake with severe back pain, and he was awake with his 6 week old daughter in his lap. We leveled together for about three hours until 6am and both fell exhausted into bed around the same time.
I no longer play WoW, but it was one of those great MMO moments for me that I remember fondly.
