If a “WoW Tourist” is a MMO gamer whose primary home is in World of Warcraft, but they jump out of game into newly-launched MMOs for about a month until jumping back home, then I have a new term.
MMOmad - A person who is unanchored to any one MMO title, and freely drifts between them without calling any one “home”. (It’s a portmanteau of sorts of “MMO” and “nomad”.)
Whaddya mean, it won’t stick? Aren’t you aching for the opportunity to look your friend in the face and utter “Mmmmomad”? I would be. If I had friends.

aarrrr MMOmad is angry!
I think saying it the way it was intended sounds good, but people will read it wrong and put a space in between MMO and mad.
my $0.02
If only you could come up with a way of inserting an “HA” in there, you could offend an entire major world religion.
Shine on, you crazy diamond. That is so ludicrous it circled right back around into awesome.
Aaand if you drift between MMOs but your ‘home’ is really a bboard, could you be a mmobbo?
I like it, tribes of MMOmads, sweeping the MMOsteppes, grazing on what fun there is to be had before MMOving on, accompanied by the Littlest MMObo…
Good phrase. Solid, comfortable. Me likes. I think it also aptly describes me at the moment. MMOmad.
Its sounds too much like “mermade” …
Also it can have another meaning:
MMOmad: MMO crazed person, possibly Korean. A person that played too much/many MMOs and has totally lost the sense of real life. A person can be considered as MMOmad when he starts peeing in Apple Juice jugs saying that is a normal behavior.
I don’t think it’ll stick. Accurate terms usually don’t, while sensationalists ones often do.
It’d make a half-decent name for a game blog tho.
I’ll add it to my list! I’m still trying to get Microcore added to the lexicon!
I like it! It’s no worse than my made up word:
Menasis.
An evil combination of menace and nemesis.
Plus…it’s just sounds like a cool band name.

Syp, you do too have friends. They’re just playing another MMO right now
