Quote of the Day

“The upcoming World of Warcraft flick also likely has a built-in audience, starting with millions of fans of the game… First released in 1994, it’s by far the dominant video game of its kind, with 11.5 million monthly subscribers.”

~ Olivia Smith, Daily News

And I waited until 2004 to log in… I’m such a chump.

  1. 1994…..hmmmmm

I was in closed beta….I think it was like nov 2004 the game was released wasn’t it? I forget now, but I definitely know it wasnt 1994 unless they are talking about the warcraft game.
I didnt even start playing EQ till 98, 2001 for daoc, SWG’s, etc…

Well for now the days are over with their 11,5 million, i think the chinese server are still down and will be like that for now. ^.^

Not that it matters every little kid movie has more fans than this. I still can“t believe Raimi is doing that crap.

    Priceless!

  4. “Monthly subscribers” is rather missing the point of what that number meant, given that the Asian markets paid by the minute.

Will the sweat shops even give their farmers time off to see the movie? Or will they just have to take laptops in while they watch?

  6. Obviously, the person should have fact-checked before making that statement. The Warcraft franchise did begin in 1994… with Orcs & Humans (RTS), not WoW (MMO).

As for the movie, a couple guys on my baseball team thought a retelling of WC3: Reign of Chaos and its expansion, The Frozen Throne could potentially make for an interesting movie.

It would kind of be a prequel leading into WoW and they could even extend it a little bit into the WoW realm by detailing some of the things taking place with the WotLK expansion.
