I generally just join a guild. I know within a month of joining whether or not I gel with anyone in it. Last guild I was in I was there for two years, I made loads of friends and even visited a few of them and all I did was latch onto some random guild. I did something similar at the start of WoW with slightly less luck, while there was talk of a meet up, nothing really happened, and we all seperated onto different servers.
One thing that does seem to follow me is that once I’m made an officer in a guild it seems to quickly decline. I’ve had to disband two guilds now after being made GM when the rest of the officers left. No fault of my own, I’m just so pigheadedly stubbourn that I’m the only one left at the end
Quick tip: Never let me be an officer.
I chose “I start my own guild” but would like to amend that
to add “but then I usually don’t invite people”. I’m the Current Guild Leader, Treasurer, Quartermaster, Moral Officer, Primary and Secondary Recruiter, Newb Trainer and Newb Recruit for the “I’m in a Guild Now” Guild on DDO. We are not accepting applications at this time.
Eh, I can’t single-vote that one. I’ve done multi-MMO guilds, my own guilds, and guilding up with friends already in game. Depends on the game, depends on who’s already playing it (or planning to, for launches).
Sometimes I have alts doing all 3.

I just follow my younger bother. He has far more playtime then me. So I tend to just ride his coat tails in every MMO we play.
I don’t do guilds any more. I like soloing, and I love helping in pickup groups. I actually wish guilds didn’t exist, to me they tend to segregate the playerbase into camps, and make the game more about the quality of your guild as opposed to the quality of the playerbase all together.

I run with people I get to know and trust, then I join thier guild. it’s easy in ddo to pick up groups whether i’m in a guild or not these days.

I tend to join with people I have a good experience PUGing with. I never go looking for a guild.
Yeah, I can’t single vote it either. Sometimes I don’t join any guild, sometimes I just make my own. Soloer, through and through.
