I like it as a fictional genre (you know, in books) but I’m so sick of Steampunk creeping into so many games.
Most of the time Steampunk has no creative value to it, just make it look vaguely Jules Verne-esque or throw in some 1930′s era references. It’s a shame because the genre launched via some great novels, but I’m so tired of contraptions (ugh no more gyro-copters please) with random dohickies attached. It’s like watching old B-movie sci-fi from the 50′s where the esthectic style came from random kitchen appliances.

So I voted for post apocalyptic because that’s what Rifts technically is but if your familiar with the game you know it’s basically all of the above.
Steampunk !
Maybe a Cyberpunk (remember the old pen and paper RPG ?) or maybe Shadowrun (still based on pen and paper, and not on the X-Box game…)
Shadowrun would be cool – and it would be interesting to see if they (whoever “they” are) could pull off Deckers.
