“So I got this e-mail today from Blizzard welcoming me back to WoW for a week… so I logged on and said hi to all my friends I haven’t seen in a while. For the Horde!”
~ Overheard at Panera’s, an employee talking to a coworker
I still find it extremely weird whenever I hear people in the real world mention MMOs out of the blue like that. Don’t know why.
I rarely actually hear people talking about it at my work as its seen as geeky etc but i do see the odd WoW desk calender on a walk round the office blocks.
There’s only one thing more bizzare, hearing someone shout “Woot” in the supermarket.
I heard a group of people at Target talking about Marauders, Choppas, and Black Orcs. It was really odd.
I feel the same way. Like I want to pipe up and say “Hey, I play MMOs too.” Maybe if I was back in the Midwest, I would. Not out here on the East Coast.
Haha! I agree, it is weird at first. But then, I catch myself thinking things like, “Yes! I am among my people! Hello, fellow geek!”
@Sharon: WoW players are not fellow geeks. At least I don’t consider the rednecks I saw in line at the WotLK mid-night release as my fellow geek. They had chewing tobacco, missing teeth, and looked closer to being almost homeless or abusive to children.
I never felt so far away from geekdom as I stood there waiting in line that night.
I work in a technichal support call center. If you dont talk about WoW or any kind of mmo or something computer related you are the wierd one.
