Bio Break

Picture of the Day (plus a small rant)

Star Trek Online is now graciously offering the in-no-way-suggestive Seven of Nine outfit in the Cryptic Store.  We here at Bio Break Industries suggest that any company who promotes such an outfit must first wear it for a week, just to make sure that it’s both practical and fashionable.

I mean, hey — it’s high heels, a corset and a wedgie, all rolled into a glittery fanservice uniform.  I’ve never quite understood Star Trek’s sexuality, to be honest.  Once you hit the TNG era, it’s like everyone became eunuchs but had to dress in spandex to suggest that they were still romantic go-getters.

Aside from that, I’d really love to see STO — and the rest of the Star Trek franchise — get over this Borg obsession that’s been going on a decade too long.  They’re overexposed, not that scary or intimidating, yet it’s as if they’re the last “cool” thing the show ever did and everyone refuses to give that up.

  1. The Borg can be scary when done right (see First Contact) but 6 years of Voyager turned them from unstopable technozombies into wooden stick men.
I’m in no way a trekkie, but I’ve seen enough trek to know what’s what, and as for sexuality, it’s seen as something either evil or clinical. People only ever get sexual if they’re under the influence of the anomaly of the week, or show any hint of sexuality if they themselves are a baddie because: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/EvilIsSexy
Right, i’m off to waste the rest of my night on tvtropes. anyone care to join me?

The first thing I noticed about the outfit is the subtle arrows that point to “important” areas of the outfit.

  3. To be fair, Seven of Nine and her outfit were the only decent thing about Voyager :P

The prime example of how weird Star Trek sexuality is is Geordi. If you haven’t seen it lately, dig up the episode where Geordi falls in love with the holographic version of that physicist. It’s so painfully pathetic and juvenile. The episode didn’t bother me when I was 9 (when it came out), but I saw it this year and my god. I felt embarrassed for the franchise and Star Trek fans. And then they thought it would be a great idea to bring the hologram up again later, instead of tossing the episode in the darkest part of the rubbish bin!

Eh, the vulcan from the last show was not too bad either.

@Sleepysam, What? Vulcan? Last show? There was a hot Vulcan on Voyager? Huh, I don’t remember that. I guess I didn’t pay enough attention to the last Star Trek show, Voyager. Yessiree.

*struggles mightily to keep a straight face*
