October Survey Results
Looking at the tally from what you readers played last month, what does our top ten most played MMOs look like?
1. Lord of the Rings Online (108 votes, same position as last month)
2. World of Warcraft (72 votes, same)
3. RIFT (51 votes, -1)
4. Fallen Earth (38 votes, +4)
5. Guild Wars (31, -2)
6. City of Heroes (26, -2)
7. World of Tanks (23, +3)
8. Star Wars: The Old Republic beta (20, +2)
9. Dungeons and Dragons Online (16 votes, same)
10. Champions Online (16, -5)
While a lot of the shakeups this month come from breaking the abnormally large amount of ties we had in September, there’s a couple interesting trends here. The first is the huge bump for Fallen Earth, which definitely comes from its free-to-play launch last month. Champions’ is down quite a bit, perhaps because the luster from its F2P conversion is wearing off. RIFT is still going strong, although perhaps not as strong as before, and several more folks are in the SWTOR beta than was announced in September.
I’m pleased to see DDO still up there, so good for that game. Barely missing the top ten were EVE Online, EverQuest II, Age of Conan, Star Trek Online, and DC Universe Online (although I suspect the latter will receive a nice bump in November due to its moment in the F2P sun). Other than that, there was a smattering of votes doled out to EverQuest, Wizard101, Glitch, and Runes of Magic and even one for Lineage II.

Geez, even among people who like MMOs enough to read blogs about them and post what they’re playing poor Warhammer can’t break the top 10 or get an honorable mention
Actually more games than that, I had a vote for Star Legends as well as FFXIV.
Playing EQ2 now
Nailed the winner…lol.
And I voted for Pirates of the Burning Sea. Not even a mention of my single vote. Poor Pirates.
I tried Pirates, was fun for one night, but really could not see myself playing it long term. Mostly, it seemed like a one trick pony though I will go back one day to try out the French and British side
