I know it’s tempting for the state’s bottom-liners to try to offload 38 Studios’ assets — including its games — for a lump sum to pay down the debt the studio left behind, but I think they’re missing a fantastic opportunity.
Rhode Island should totally finish Copernicus’ development and run the game. The first government-run MMO in history.
“But, America’s Army…” “SHH, YOU.”
Wouldn’t that be awesome? I mean, it’d be a total disaster, but the whole thing is already, so it’d be keeping in with the theme. Plus, it would be really entertaining to watch:
“Hey Fred, you play the Wii, right? You’re the lead developer on this game we just bought. See if you can’t get it launched by next week.”
“But I just do tax code!”
“Then make the quests about taxes. Do I have to do your job for you?”
Tax quests? Ohhhh, the grind. And the reading. The pain!
Oh Syp. You just made me laugh so hard that everyone in the office came over to my desk to see what was up.
My brain knows this is funny. But the funny response is getting overwritten by the pain of imagining a government developed MMO.
