DDO Offer Wall Update: It’s Clean! Mostly! Well… Come Back Tomorrow.

Turbine’s responded to the huge ruckus (can you describe the nature of the ruckus, sir?) regarding the DDO Offer Wall with a calming post that says, in effect:

  1. We were not overseeing and filtering the promoted offers in the first 24 hours, and as such, lots of crap got pushed to our players.
  2. It’s now being filtered according to stringent standards, so it should be safe.
  3. But we’re not 100% sure, so we’re taking part of the wall down while we investigate further.

It’s great they’re responding like this and not just blowing off what appear to be legitimate concerns, but at the same time, this whole thing just feels pretty messy.  I hope they get it sorted out soon!

At the same time though, it’s also a sign that the “partner” here is actually filled with non-legit offers and that Turbine is well aware of that. That the whole things smells quite badly right now, even if I do think it’s a good thing that they are communicating and not just hoping the whole thing will blow over. I wish they’ll withdraw from the deal, despite the huge amount of money available.

Reading the forum threads, it seems like they tried their damndest to blow off the concerns at first though.

There’s a fine line of trust in some situations, so whether they sort it out soonish or otherwise is a wee bit moot to me.

Sending out account names to known phishing scammers to cash in a few bucks = distinctly not cool. Whether intentional or by mistake, it’s a boo boo where an apology isn’t going to cut it. Not for me anyway.

I’ve had it! It’s this sort of thing that proves Cryptic–

    –oh, wait, wrong company.

Two thumbs up for the Breakfast Club reference, sir.
