According To Guy On Cart, Fantasy “Not Dead Yet”

If you’ve been hanging around Bio Break long enough, you’ll know that one of the themes I’ve thumped over the past years was that it looked as though the fantasy genre was finally heading out the door — or being pushed way into the background — in favor of other genres in the upcoming MMO pool.  The Old Republic, The Secret World, Black Prophecy, DCUO, The Agency, etc.

I said that back then because other than Guild Wars 2, I didn’t see a lot of fantasy on the horizon.  I have to correct myself now and backtrack on that — it looks like fantasy is still a pretty popular setting for MMO studios, and we’re far from seeing the end of them.  TERA, Rift, Final Fantasy 14, the Torchlight MMO, whatever Cryptic is working on (presumably), and pretty much every F2P import out there.  So I take my words back.  Fantasy will never, ever leave us.

“Fantasy will never, ever leave us.”

What, are you trying to make sure fantasy is killed off?? 😉

I agree, there are enough people in this world and enough differences in interests that there will always be people that prefer the fantasy realm to space or anything else.
