Fun things to do in Moria

  • Laugh at the increasingly ridiculous Dwarf names
  • “So, how’s that weather AH HA HA”
  • Realize that you only had to speak “friend” to enter, but you’ll have to do 1,500 quests to leave
  • Engage in three-dimensional thinking
  • Engage in two-dimensional daydreaming and run straight off a cliff into the bottomless chasms that abound
  • Curse Dwarven ingenuity that carves massive sculptures yet doesn’t think to include handrails
  • “So why am I doing these quests to clear a path when you already have tons of Dwarves all the way to the 21st Hall?”
  • Be right where you need to be on the map, and yet be totally lost at the SAME TIME
  • Feel the walls close in and have a nervous collapse
  • Spray some graffiti: “GANDALF WAZ HERE”
  • Invite impressionable newbies into the Foundations of Stone and then leave them there gibbering in horror
  • “Balrog?  I hardly knew her!”
  • Type in general chat: “So has anyone seen ‘The Descent’?”

Love it. But you missed the most fun thing to do in Moria; leave.

    I lol’d.

Personally, though, I can’t wait to get to Moria. Then again, I’m playing a Dwarf, love that part of the books and am a little bit of a claustrophile.

I agree, it’s a wonderful feeling leaving Moria. LOTRO, at least in the MoM expansion, subverts the MMO tradition of having the highest level areas being desolate, evil, or otherwise unpleasant places.

After Moria, you can wander down the road to the edge of a beautiful golden wood. And then, as you get shot by elven archers, realize that you have to grind rep in order to actually go into that wood.

This is a great post. I laughed out loud a few times… I loved Moria though. It makes you learn your class better and was a great overall expansion! Much better than Mirkwood.
