WoW Classic plans

With WoW Classic coming out next week, last-minute preparations are in effect all across the globe. It’s kind of silly and kind of exciting at the same time, and while I’m not deep in the current of this all, I’m at least floating downstream at a nice clip.

So what are my plans? I haven’t laid out everything to the last iota, but I have a general outline. I’m rolling on Bloodsail Buccaneers because RP realms generally sport a friendlier community and guilds. I have no guild at present, but I’ll probably shop for one over the weekend — or just keep an eye on the newbie zone chat.

After a whole lot of pondering (and watching videos reminding me on how it used to be), I’m going to whip up a Gnome Warlock for my run. There’s a few reasons for this, the first being that this was the “original” Syp that I played through a large chunk of vanilla. If we’re going back, I might as well REALLY go back. Also, I’m all about pets and dots and utility and survival. This one has the full package. And a free level 40 mount to boot!

Professions? There’s two ways I might go on this. The first is mining/engineering, because I loved my toys and WoW Classic won’t have a lot of extras like this. But that’s expensive and hard, so I dunno. The second way is the money making route: skinning and herbs. I do need to pick one or the other path from the first day, or else I’m going to be doing a lot of backtracking.

As for a leveling plan, I’m not going to be in a rush here — nor am I going to be playing WoW Classic exclusively. It’s just going to be added to the rotation. I’ll probably use one of those tried-and-true leveling guides from the days of yore, since otherwise it gets too frustrating trying to find on-level quests. But from my perspective, it’s all about the journey, since I won’t be doing much (if anything) in the way of endgame dungeoning or raiding. I guess I’m kind of hoping that this character will be able to continue on to a progression shard or a Burning Crusade server one day. At the very least, I’ll get a fun experience and some blog posts out of it before the end.

What about you? You playing? You have plans?

Bloodsail Buccaneers as well, but horde side. I’ve rolled Belghast as an Undead Warrior, largely for the overpoweredness of Will of the Forsaken as an instant/non-stance-dancing fear break.

Bloodsail Buccaneers also! I have some laid back vanilla friends and we are planning a slow-leveling, savory type of journey – kind of a pastime sort of thing. Alliance, probably a hunter 🙂
If you are looking for a no-commitment social chat type of guild, keep an eye out for the Pie Lovers Society…

Myzrael for me, the wife, all of the guild. Horde Forsaken Shadowpriest. Profession wise, my usual Tailoring, bags will be hot sellers initially. My wife’s going herbs and alchemy, so I’m grabbing herbs too to help her out. She still Raids in retail and I will probably play Classic those nights. I’m not worried about gaining levels faster. We will get there when we do. Eventually I will swap herbs to Enchanting. I may also roll an alt for herbs and inscription. Did the have glyphs in Vanilla?

Overall my thought is eventually we will lose more than half the people, and then there will be those late comers looking to catch up, but having a cash reserve will allow for buying some things here and there.

I can’t decide between priest and warlock and gnome and undead. So, I’ll just have them all. I’m in no rush at all and mostly just want to see the old content as it was again… I loved Deadmines and Wailing Caverns, so even if I never get to the high levels, I’m still going to have fun!

I’m going to be playing on the two German PvE servers. Very casually, as I also have other games that I still want to play.

Bloodsail Bucaneers is out for me thanks to Blizzard’s annoying soft region-locking. I’ll be on the EU RP server, Hydraxian Waterlords, which is a great name.

I already made a dwarf hunter but I’ll probably also make a gnome warlock. As for gameplay I’m just going to wander around and do stuff for as long as it seems interesting. That’s as much of a plan as I ever need.

Paladin, mining+blacksmith, going as slow as possible, still didn’t decide on the realm, i may go into RP one but i’m really bad at RP, i know nothing about it.

Was planning on making another Shaman but not ready to pay full sub just for wow classic. Will be playing the DDO hardcore server instead for my classic experience. When I have some extra money will probably dip in. I think $20 cdn a month for an old game is too much.
